PediaSure Enteral Formula With Fiber and scFOS provides 3 g/L scFOS. FOS (fructooligosaccharides) are
prebiotics, or nondigestible carbohydrate that stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria in the large
intestine (colon). FOS occur naturally in common foods such as onions, wheat, barley, bananas, tomatoes, garlic,
and artichokes.

Prebiotics, such as FOS, serve four main functions:
   FOS are an energy source for promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria. FOS are fermented
   by bacteria in the colon to Short-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs).

   SCFA production acidifies the colon, creating an unfavorable environment for pathogenic bacteria.

   SCFAs are a preferred energy source for cells of the colon, helping to maintain gastrointestinal
   tract integrity. SCFAs fuel the cells of the colon to help keep them strong.

   FOS, acting as a dietary fiber, can help normalize bowel function.
