Ready-to-Hang® containers may be hung for up to 48 hours after being
spiked, providing clean technique is used and only one new feeding set is used. If a second
set or container is used, the hang time reverts to 24 hours. Using clean technique with a
single feeding set is critical to achieving 48 hr. hang time.
>> Is the product in the 500 mL container the same as the product in the cans?

The DRIs are nutrient intake guidelines intended primarily for use in planning nutritionally
adequate diets for healthy population groups. These recommendations are based on current research
and the opinions of experts in the field of nutrition. Most nutrients have a DRI; many nutrients
also have a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL). Since PediaSure Enteral Formulas are typically used
for sole-source nutrition, they are designed to meet or exceed the DRIs, but not exceed the ULs.
>> What are the protein ingredients in PediaSure Enteral Formulas?
PediaSure Enteral Formulas contain milk protein concentrate. These proteins are derived from cow milk and provide a blend of 80% casein to 20% whey protein.

PediaSure Enteral Formulas contain high oleic safflower oils, soy oils, and medium-chain-triglycerides (MCT) oils.

>> Why are PediaSure Enteral Formulas lactose free but not appropriate for children with galactosemia?
PediaSure Enteral Formulas are lactose free, but not galactose free. The milk protein
source brings in a trace amount of galactose that is unacceptable to babies/children
with galactosemia. The physician or metabolic dietitian should be consulted for an
acceptable alternative for pediatric patients with galactosemia.
>> Are PediaSure Enteral Formulas gluten-free?
Yes, PediaSure Enteral Formulas are wheat-free, gluten-free, and gliadin-free. These products are safe
for children who have celiac disease or gluten-induced enteropathy. These children have to avoid gliadin
(a component of gluten), which is contained in wheat, rye, barley, and sometimes oats. The source of oat
fiber in PediaSure Enteral Formulas has been specially treated to be devoid of protein.
>> Can I tube-feed both enteral and retail PediaSure?
PediaSure Enteral Formulas are primarily designed to be tube-fed, often as sole or primary
source of nutrition. PediaSure retail products are primarily designed to be taken orally as
supplements to other foods in the diet. However, all PediaSure products can be taken orally –
or tube-fed – as the individual patient’s situation and health care professional’s
judgment dictate.
>> Can I substitute PediaSure® retail products for PediaSure® Enteral Formulas?
PediaSure retail products should not be substituted for PediaSure Enteral Formulas without contacting
